Aluminum Sliding Glass Door Removal
Just recently I talked about how to identify your existing moving glass door so you can purchase the vinyl replacement door. Today I am going to go over the actions required to get rid of the old sliding door prior to establishing the new door.
The big bulk of doors out there have the moving panel on the within half of the track, and the set panel is on the outside. To eliminate the set panel, you need to eliminate the sill cap that snaps into the bottom track and ranges from the set panel to the side jamb where the moving panel locks. You can raise the panel up as far as it will enter into the leading channel and swing the bottom far from the track, and eliminate the panel.
Now, you want to remove all the screws from the side jambs, leading header, and bottom track. Take a lever and get it under the bottom track about in the. Start with either half and raise the cut piece up towards the side jamb up till the track piece separates from the side jamb.
Now you need to eliminate the side jambs. There will be a variety of nails holding each jamb in area, so you want to start at the bottom and work your technique to the leading corner. Many times you can get the jamb with both hands and pull the rest of the nails absolutely complimentary as you go up when you get the bottom 3rd loose.
At this minute you are prepared to establish the new door. The setup treatment is a little different, relying on whether you’re establishing a retrofit style frame or a replacement frame. We will discuss both treatments next week.
